Origin and Development of Flute

 Flute is one of the main high-pitched melodic instruments in modern orchestral and indoor music. The shape is a cylindrical long tube with several sound holes. The early flute was made of ebony or coconut wood. Modern use of metals, such as ordinary nickel silver alloy or professional silver alloy 9 K and 14 K gold and precious metal platinum, and occasionally performers used special plastic flute. The timbre of traditional wooden flute is round, warm and delicate, and the volume is small, while the timbre of metal flute is bright and broad. Flutes of different materials are chosen entirely according to the player's hobbies. But a flute should be used in the band to get the most harmonious and full sound effect. Among western instruments, flute belongs to the air-blowing instrument (woodwind). The pronunciation principle of flute is more special than that of other musical instruments. It is caused by the continuous positive and negative pressure change at the blowing hole to stimulate the air spring to sound, so the external curvature of the inlet end has a considerable influence on the angle of the inner edge of the blowing hole.
