Sun Junwei started learning clarinet at the age of 8 and saxophone at the age of 17. Before liberation, he played the saxophone at Shanghai's most famous Paramount Ballroom at the time. In 1950, Sun Junwei came to Wuhan, and successively worked in Wuhan Cultural Workers Troupe, Wuhan Song and Dance Troupe and other units. After retiring, he was still obsessed with orchestral music, and when he was free, he participated in various performance activities with his friends.

Two months ago, Sun Junwei joined the Wuhan Chamber Orchestra. Knowing that the orchestra was about to participate in the performance of the first Hubei Art Festival, he began to actively participate in the joint practice of the orchestra. "Every Saturday is the joint training time of our regiment, which lasts from 7:30 pm to more than 11 pm. Although they are a bit tired, the enthusiasm of everyone is very high," Sun Junwei told reporters.

In order to bring better performance to the audience at the festival, Sun Junwei made a special trip to Beijing to buy the saxophone of Selma, France. This is a mid-range 54-type saxophone, many of which are hand-made. "Many people say that I am crazy and pay too much for the festival, but I don't think so, because I have loved music in my life, from which I can find happiness, and it is worth it!" Sun Junwei said.
